Auf Der Wiese

stars

For a genuine Tyrolean skiing experience, the rustic Ferienhof auf der Wiese is a great little option. Literally translated as the Holiday Farm on the Meadow, Auf der Weise is a little away from town, in the middle of its own snowy meadow. In fact, it's away from pretty much everything, so you should get a nice and peaceful sleep. It'll take you around 15 minutes to walk to Mayrhofen's centre and a little further for the Penken gondola - although the ski bus stops closer so you can easily explore more of the Ziller Valley. You may actually prefer jumping on the bus to the Horberger gondola, where the queues are usually a lot quicker. The decor throughout the guesthouse is warm and bright. The rooms are simply furnished and all of them have a balcony. You might want to dust off your German phrasebook before you leave home - the auf der Wiese is run by a friendly husband and wife team, who don't speak too much English - but then you are on holiday in Austria. One thing the owners do understand though is good hospitality and cleanliness.

They’re simply one large bed frame containing two single mattresses, both with separate duvets and linen sets, that cannot be separated. Separate twin beds are less common and can often be head to head beds, rather than side by side, if they are available.
